Purpose

The purpose of the Nonprofit Committee is to create a network for local nonprofits to enhance knowledge, skills and effectiveness of stakeholders; including, staff, board members, volunteers and community partners; through educational initiatives, trainings forums and capacity building efforts.  

The committee will support the Chamber’s mission by fostering collaboration among local nonprofits and businesses to strengthen community resources and engagement. By identifying development needs, designing learning opportunities, and supporting best practices, the committee aims to create a greater collective impact for the Post Falls community.

Scope of Work

The Nonprofit Committee will be responsible for: 

  • Assessing needs by identifying current and emerging trends, including education and training initiatives for staff and volunteers. 
  • Coordinating professional development opportunities for leadership. 
  • Developing a toolkit for best practices, board development and partner engagement including government and business leaders. 
  • Creating a pipeline of programs, initiatives and education to foster collective impact. 
  • Conducting a quarterly Executive Director Collaborative 
  • Organizing a yearly nonprofit expo and nonprofit education course 
  • Actively engaging the business community to partner alongside the nonprofit community 
  • Producing a newsletter to highlight successes and offer educational opportunities. 
  • Housing a landing page on the Post Falls Chamber’s website 

Membership & Representation

Membership in the committee will be open to nonprofits, business partners, and community stakeholders. The committee encourages diverse representation from across nonprofit sectors, including youth services, housing, healthcare, arts and culture, education, and social services, to ensure that a broad range of community needs are represented. 

Leadership & Roles

The committee will be led by a Chair or Co-Chairs, elected by committee members for a one-year term, with the option to renew for a second year. This approach ensures continuity of leadership while providing opportunities for shared responsibility and fresh perspectives. 

The Chair(s) will: 

  • Facilitate committee meetings. 
  • Work with Chamber staff to set agendas and priorities. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the committee and the Post Falls Chamber Board. 

Metrics & Accountability

To demonstrate the committee’s impact and effectiveness over time, the following success measures will be tracked and reported annually: 

  • Number of nonprofits represented in the committee (target: at least 10 active organizations in the first year). 
  • Meeting attendance and engagement levels (target: 75% of members attending each quarterly meeting). 
  • Number of partnerships or collaborations formed (target: 3 joint events or initiatives annually between nonprofits and local businesses). 
  • Capacity-building opportunities offered (target: host at least two workshops or trainings per year). 
  • Community events supported or promoted (target: at least one local fundraiser or awareness campaign annually). 
  • Nonprofits highlighted through Chamber communications (target: quarterly newsletter spotlights or social media features).
